What is the trapezius muscle?

The trapezius is a large muscle that runs from the back of the head and neck across the shoulders and down the upper back. It helps us lift our shoulders and hold our head up. With stress, poor posture or a lot of screen time, the muscle often becomes tense. Over time it can feel stiff and sore, and give the shoulders a bulkier, more raised shape.

How does the treatment work?

We inject botox with a fine needle at a few points in the upper part of the trapezius on both sides. The botulinum toxin reduces the muscle's activity so that it relaxes. You can move your neck and shoulders just as usual – the muscle simply doesn't tense up as hard. The treatment takes about 15 minutes and you can return to your daily routine straight away.

Who is the treatment for?

• Tense shoulders and neck: For you who often feel stiffness and soreness in the neck and shoulders, for example after long days at a desk.
• Tension headaches: Relaxed neck muscles can reduce the kind of headache that comes from muscle tension.

When will I see results and how long do they last?

Relief from tension is often noticeable after one to two weeks. The aesthetic effect – a softer, longer neck and shoulder line – develops gradually and is most visible after four to six weeks. The effect usually lasts four to six months. With repeated treatments, results tend to last longer.

Is the treatment safe?

Does Trap Tox hurt?
Most people only feel a couple of light pricks. The treatment is quick and usually requires no anaesthetic.

Can I exercise after the treatment?
We recommend avoiding intense exercise for the first 24 hours. After that you can train as usual.

Will my shoulders become weak?
No. The muscle relaxes but still works, so you can lift and carry as usual. Some people find their shoulders feel a little more tired during the first few weeks.

How soon will my neckline look slimmer?
The change is gradual and most visible after four to six weeks.
