Skin Boosters & PRP
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the difference between skinboosters and fillers?
Fillers are used to build volume, alter contours, or fill deep wrinkles. Skinboosters are a much more fluid hyaluronic acid that is injected in small drops over a larger area. The purpose is not to build volume, but to provide the skin with extremely deep hydration, elasticity, and radiance.
What is PRP and how does it work?
PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma. During the treatment, we take a standard blood sample from your arm. The blood is then centrifuged to separate the nutrient-rich plasma containing your own growth factors. This plasma is then injected into the skin or scalp to stimulate natural cell renewal and healing.
Do I have to do a consultation 48 hours beforehand?
Yes, it is a Swedish legal requirement for your safety. The consultation must take place at least 48 hours before your very first injection treatment with skin boosters or PRP, or if more than six months have passed since your last visit for the same treatment.
Do the injections hurt?
The injections are performed with very thin needles or a special injection gun, which minimizes discomfort. Skinboosters often contain built-in anesthetic (lidocaine), and before a PRP treatment, we can apply an effective numbing cream to the area if you wish.
How many treatments are needed to see results?
For skin boosters, a course of 2 to 3 treatments, spaced a few weeks apart, is usually recommended for optimal effect. For PRP in the face or scalp, a course of 3 to 4 treatments is typically recommended. The results are then maintained with single treatments per year.
When will I see the results of a skin booster or PRP?
After a skin booster, the skin can feel more hydrated quite quickly, but the full effect on skin quality is visible after a few weeks. PRP is a biological process where results appear gradually over 3 to 6 months as the skin forms new collagen or hair follicles are activated.
Can you do PRP for hair loss?
Yes, PRP is a very popular and effective method to slow down hair loss and stimulate hair growth. The growth factors are injected into the scalp where they nourish the hair follicles, increase blood circulation, and make thin hairs stronger and thicker.
Are there any side effects after the treatment?
Because PRP uses your own blood, there is no risk of allergic reactions. After both skin boosters and PRP, you may experience temporary redness, small swellings (like small mosquito bites), and occasional bruising at the injection sites. This normally subsides within 1 to 3 days.
What should I consider after my treatment?
Avoid touching the treated area or applying makeup for the first 24 hours to keep the injection sites clean. You should also refrain from intense exercise, sauna, hot baths, and alcohol during the first day.
